My tutorials serve to help you further your understanding of artistic concepts. Anatomy tutorials are drawn in my style and the models used are my personal preferences.

My pose practices serve to help me study human motion, perspective, and anatomy in a more hands-on fashion. They are sketches, and most of them come from photo references. You may use them in any way you like.

Inspirations:

:iconartgerm: `Artgerm, one of the best comic artists I've ever seen. Visit his chatroom, #Artgermination. You may find it very helpful like I do!

:iconphoenixlu: *phoenixlu, one of my favorite chinese style artists with a magnificently realistic and painterly style.

:iconjonasdero: *JonasDeRo, one of the greatest scenery, landscape, and texture artists I've ever seen.

My background story:

I started like many others: Pokemon, manga, anime fan art. My then-passions.

Several artists unknowingly helped me in exploring the possibilities along the way.

I began drawing "seriously" when I was fifteen, starting with observing ~Orenji-kun's style. After about a year, in June of 2010, I obtained my tablet and finally began coloring.

:iconorenji-kun: ~Orenji-kun, the person who inspired me to step away from drawing small Pokemon and chibi figures and begin drawing humans

:iconjurithedreamer: *jurithedreamer, the person who inspired me to begin coloring my art, and the person who inspired me to save up money to buy a tablet.

But, I would put away my tablet for months, and sometimes, I would draw continuously for months. It's an on and off process for me, especially if I'm busy with school or work. I have never taken actual classes before, and I am not an art major or minor. I do not make enough from art to even consider it as small income. As such, it's difficult for me to maintain motivation.

In May of 2012, I began extensive anatomy and value studies, with helpful critique from #Artgermination.

There's so much to learn that sometimes it scares me. But when I put myself to the test and try to draw exactly what scares me, I become motivated to learn it instead.

I am not afraid to take baby steps. I'll keep practicing and self-studying, with the help of those in #Artgermination. Who knows, maybe I'll be successful in the art world some day!

Thanks for reading!

Hiatus End in Sight...

Tue Apr 23, 2013, 4:33 PM
As many of you may or may not have noticed, I've been on hiatus for quite some time now. This pause is due to school; being an accounting and finance double major takes a lot of work and commitment.

My choices were:
Art, school, exercise, social life, student organizations.
I can only choose four. Unfortunately, although I love art, it does not take precedence over the other four, so I decided to put my tablet away from reach.

But the end of this hiatus is in sight. My finals end in middle-May, and once finals are over, I'll have more time. I'm taking classes over the summer, but it will only be two classes per 45 days, so I'll have plenty of time in-between to work on art. Most of my friends will be gone, and student organizations won't occur at all during the summer, so I'll definitely have time.

Unfortunately, I've already made the decision to go on another hiatus in the 2013 fall semester, after summer break. I might have a bit more time to do art during this semester though, since I'll have a faster means of transportation (living within 1 minute walking distance of my classes), so I'll have to see.

Either way, watch out for some more studies, tutorials, and some nice projects coming up in the near future.

-Jeff

Do you think you could make a tutorial on feet?

Finding these tutorials was perfect timing for me, I'm just about to plunge back into drawing after a 5 or so year hiatus of barely even sketching anything, and this has all been super helpful, thanks!

"Application versus admiration."

Those are some powerful, inspirational words. I think I'll put that in my room somewhere. Certainly admiring has been what I've wasted a lot fo my time doing.

hehe thanks! I think this is the first time I created an inspirational phrase.

But yeah! Simply admiring isn't enough! Instead of asking "how can I ever achieve this?" ask "what steps can I take in order to achieve this?"

Certainly! The words really hit home--and with good timing, too, since I'm making my New Year's Resolution to learn to draw, and stick with it. So, actually, thank -you-.
